We just got back from She's Out of My League. It was incredibly funny and too cute!!!

The music was pretty cool throughout, especially Undiscovered from James Morrison...

If you like romantic comedies, go see it. You will really like this one.

Thrashers

Thanks to a sweet friend, Jay and I received free tickets to last night's Thrasher's game + a parking pass directly across the street from Phillips arena.

We ran into a ton of traffic going into downtown. The 'monster truck show' was being held next door to Phillips arena.

We got off 85, the main inroad into ATL, once we realized there were a lot of out-of-towners. (See the line of traffic just sitting on the right side?) We figured we would be able to take some back roads that the out-of-towners wouldn't know as well. We were right! :)

We had the opportunity to pass by an important building. Jay and I met here. We worked at a start-up internet provider and became friends. I worked on the 27th floor, he worked on the 17th floor, and over a year's time we got to know each other enough to realize we had a lot in common. We never dated while working together (yes, people of the opposite sex can be just friends!). :) After the company was bought out and I was laid off, Jay called to ask me out on a date...and the rest is history!

The seats we had were ridiculous. We were 14 rows up from the glass. There was only one fight, Atlanta lost by a lot (8-1), but it was still a fun game.

It's Complicated

I can't say enough how excited I am to see this movie. It was written and produced by the same person who wrote and produced my all-time favorite movie, Something's Gotta Give. I've seen it 100 times, can recite the words and still get emotional at the end. I'm so looking forward to going to see It's Complicated when it comes out!!

Happy Birthday to You

Jay and I aren't too stuffy but we do like celebrate our "occasions." Jay's birthday fell over Labor Day weekend, so to his enjoyment he had a three-day birthday weekend. It's a joke with us that birthday's are never one day. Jay's parents took us out to lunch Saturday, then we went to Stoney River Sunday night for steak & drinks, and had cake & presents on Monday. I decorated the house on Friday, leaving the gifts sitting out throughout the weekend just to torture him - he LOVES gifts. It was sweet to watch him mull around them all weekend! My parents were AWESOME and gave Jay $250 toward the new computer that he has been stewing over!

Monet & Louvre Exhibits @ The High Museum

With Michelle on a break before she started her Fall classes, we decided to visit the High Museum - specifically the Monet & the Louvre exhibits. While both exhibits were ok, it really made us appreciate our time in Paris (see here and here) - specifically the REAL Louvre as well as the Musee de Orsay.

There was a smaller version of one of Michelle's favorite paintings - the Coronation of Napoleon and Josephine in Notre Dame Cathedral - it was a reproduction in an 8x10 size...sore disappointment for Michelle.

42nd Street

I have always loved plays - it started back when I went to the first one in college during a fraternity formal. We saw Miss Saigon in Detroit, MI. It was the most awe-inspiring performance, and it made me want to see more. The next performance I saw was the Phantom of the Opera in San Francisco, courtesy of my Aunt Gloria during a spring break visit to her house.

Recently I had a school break and wanted to do some activities that I knew I would really enjoy. We spent the whole weekend going out to dinner, shopping, attending exhibits in Atlanta and THEN hit 42nd street at the Fox Theater in downtown Atlanta on a Sunday afternoon. The theater area is beautiful - the building is an older structure that was erected in the 1920's - it is smaller than the other theater's I've visited but is lined with red velvet chairs and stars on the dark ceiling. I'm a little embarrassed to admit that after our long weekend, at one point during the performance Jay was nudging me in the side and said, "Are you ASLEEP?" I made such a big deal about getting him to attend, then was so worn out that I was resting in my hand and appearing very tired (that's the story and I'm sticking to it!). 42nd was a great show, and I'm really looking forward to the night when my parents join us for the Rockettes later this fall.
